The common ailment of back pain raises many questions from our patients because of the varying levels of pain, and we answer all questions completely and comprehensively.

What Is a Herniated Disc?

This occurs when one of the discs in the spine bulges from its general shape, or ruptures, spilling the contents inside the disc into the spinal region.

Why Does a Herniated Disc Hurt?

Many do not hurt, but when they are caused by acute trauma, they are especially painful.

How Can I Know What Is Causing the Pain in My Back if the Herniated Disc Does Not Hurt?

Experiencing any pain can be debilitating. The best way to determine the source of back pain is to see our chiropractor. He will examine, assess, and diagnose the problem, and devise a customized treatment plan to begin immediately.

What Is the Best Treatment for a Herniated Disc?

Treatment options may vary for each individual. We sometimes utilize a combination of two or more treatment techniques, depending on the severity of the damage and pain. Spinal decompression is a good treatment. We want patients to avoid surgery when possible. We offer several therapy options that we suggest in order to find the right one to suit your needs.

What Happens When a Herniated Disc Is Displaced?

A herniated disc is typically in the early stage of degeneration. There is limited space in the spinal canal that will not accommodate the spinal nerve and the fragments from the displaced disc. The disc will press on the spinal nerve, causing pain that can be severe. A disc can become herniated in any part of the spine.
