What to Expect: You Initial Sports Injury Examination

Your initial appointment to our Lexington KY chiropractor will start with a consultation to determine your condition, the pain you are currently experiencing and how the injury occurred. We will then perform a physical exam to determine the extent of your sports injury and if it can be corrected through chiropractic treatments.

Your First Chiropractic Treatment

Most often, our patients will receive their first treatment after their initial exam and diagnosis. This treatment may involve chiropractic adjustments, the use of heat or ice, and immobilization and rest. Many of our patients experience some relief from pain and tension after their very first treatment. Our goal, however, is long term wellness.

What Are Chiropractic Adjustments?

Chiropractic adjustments are a physical manipulation of the spine area to bring the neuromusculoskeletal system into better alignment. Once this alignment occurs, the body is in a much better position to help heal itself without the use of drugs or other invasive procedure. Chiropractic adjustments have proven to not only be effective in helping the body heal, but are a holistic way in which to manage pain.

Rehabilitation and Recovery

Appropriate exercises can help in your recovery from a sports injury as damaged muscles and nerve connections heal. Your rehabilitation may involve the continued use of ice and heat along with rest. Continued use of chiropractic adjustments can help promote healing and improve your athletic range. Many of our athlete patients continue to receive these treatments following recovery to maintain their health.
